On Thursday 22 June we took over the top floor of City Hall where, in addition to sweeping views of the capital on a balmy evening, guests were treated to an evening of presentations and networking.
This Showcase Evening was a milestone for the Nitrous and Transport for London (TfL) Transport Programme, marking the culmination of almost three months' work to give six exciting, early-stage startups a boost towards rapid commercialisation.
We were thrilled to welcome Val Shawcross CBE, Deputy Mayor for Transport as our keynote speaker, who discussed the draft Mayor’s Transport Strategy, published only the day before.
There were clear synergies with the work of our startups – around lowering emissions and/or promoting walking and cycling. These synergies were apparent with each of their five minute presentations.
Vernon Everitt, Managing Director of Customers, Communication & Technology at TfL provided the room with a powerful and inspiring vision of partnerships, technology and possibilities.
George Johnston, CEO of Nitrous, discussed the huge potential for govtech and civtech - and open data - in building smart cities.
Stellar presentations from our startups rounded out the line-up, before conversations between decision-makers from the corporate, public sector and investor communities flowed late into the evening - as we watched the sun set on the day, and the programme.
